I know now how a humming bird or a honey bee feel about flowers. We walked into our local grocery store, my head swivelled and body followed. On a low display sat the most incredible orchid. It was beautiful with long green leaves and an unbelievable arch of flowers. I could not take my eyes away from it. The depth and range of colour you really need to see in person to get the full effect.
My sweetie didn't hesitate; he only asked which one of the two plants I wanted. If I wasn't an extreme introvert I would have jumped up and down and squealed. An orchid with flowers in my favourite colours! Thank-you so much, my Hero!
Pure Gold
The grower's tag only said it was an 'Exotic Orchid'. Okay, all orchids are exotic to a northern Canadian dweller. So that didn't help much ;) A search turned up for cymbidium orchids. These orchids are soil grown and have pseudo bulbs above the soil. I was floored to discover numerous variation of flower types in the cymbidium family. I still have no idea which variety I have sitting on my dining room table, but I know I love it!
Groceries? Who needs food when one can feast on this beauty through out the day. Sigh, just kidding, food is my friend. The chocolately the better... crunchy is good, too...
